I have recently came across this paragraph and I found the phrasing odd.

"The team members will be reporting into yourself in the workday system. We would like to confirm with you if they will continue to report into yourself or Mary."

Just wanted to check if "reporting into yourself" is correct, or should it be "reporting into you"?

Thank you.

Welcome to English Language & Usage, renee. Actually, to me, the correct wording would be "report (ing) to you". The wording seems odd in the quoted paragraph.

  • Very odd indeed. I wonder if it was written by a native speaker. Into should probably be split: reporting in to, and yourself is being used as if it were emphatic, meaning 'you personally'. That's not normal.

  • Possible duplicate of When is it correct to use "yourself" and "myself" (versus "you" and "me")?
