Shared elements and part descriptor in Eclipse application model

In an Eclipse e4 application model I can define shared elements so that placeholders can refer to them from different places and layout perspectives.

I can also define part descriptors to create and show Parts on the model programmatically via the EPartService.

MPart part = partService.createPart("part descriptor id");

Now, if I want to manually show a shared element, I need to duplicate its definition (id, properties, tags, toolbar, it might be lots of stuff) to a part descriptor.

I would just like to make sure that there is no way to avoid this, the part service does not like shared elements, it requires part descriptors.
