Python / JSON: Adapting an Unstructured JSON file to geoJSON for Geotagging (lat/long)

I have some unstructured JSON data, and here is a sample:
{"Entities": [{"BeginOffset": 9, "EndOffset": 19, "Score": 0.01, "Text": "WASHINGTON", "Type": "LOCATION"}, {"BeginOffset": 20, "EndOffset": 22, "Score": 0.02, "Text": "DC", "Type": "LOCATION"}], "File": "abc.doc", "Line": 19}
I want to geo-tag the WASHINGTON using a geopandas or another library. I.e., the script sees WASHINGTON and adds a latitude / longitude to the location.
I've been trying to adapt this question's first answer, but I have had zero success:
def convert_json(items):
import json
return json.dumps({ "type": "FeatureCollection",
"features": [
{"type": "Feature",
"geometry": {"type": "Location" },
"properties": { key: value }
}
for feature in json.loads(items)
]
})
Have I skipped a step? Or is the data too unstructured? Thanks
