I'm attempting to parse an RSS XML file using Diffused XML in Python 3.7. The relevant code is as follows:
def parse_xml_links(file, path, output):
handler = GenericContentHandler(path, output)
dsax.parse(file, handler)
def fetch_changes():
r = requests.get(rss_url)
return r
updates = fetch_changes()
parse_xml_links(updates.text, path, output)
The XML file header is:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" ?>
<rss version="0.91">
I get the following error on parsing:
ValueError: unknown url type: '?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" ?>nn
The error occurs only when I attempt to parse a requests object, i.e. updates.text. No error occurs if I point to a local XML file.
I've tried this solution using this code:
parser = dsax.make_parser()
parser.setFeature(handler.feature_external_ges, False)
parser(file, handler, path, output)
However, the handler object doesn't have the attribute "feature_external_ges".
What is the error source, and how do you recommend I fix it? Obviously, I could save the requests object and parse the saved file; however, I'd like to understand if it's possible to parse the requests object.
