“to create” or “creating”
Maybe this is too basic, but I'm a little confused. What's the difference between these three sentences?
My first idea was to create a...
My first idea was create a...
My first idea was creating a...
The first one sounds a little weird for me, is it grammarly correct? Thanks!

The first rings better in my ears... the others seem to cause confusion because both verbs are conjugated (was and create). I don't have the vocabulary to explain why... but something like the idea must be a thing and to turn a verb into a thing, we use the unconjugated version
