What is another word for information, one that does not suppose accuracy?

Information means "facts provided or learned about something or someone."
I'm looking for a similar word but one that does not suppose it is referring to facts.
I was thinking of using the word data but that doesn't sound quite right for my purpose. I had wanted to say we are overwhelmed with [word] and it is hard to know what is information and what is just nonsense.
