What is more natural in team-member individual report “I did it OR ”?

I have read a number of explanations, but still I am not sure about this particular context.
Context of the situation: a number of employees are working as a team in the same office. Every employee regularly (almost daily) writes individual reports about the work done. Many tasks are individual. But for sure, employees could consult each other, get some advice from their manager, some guidelines etc.
As for now, in almost all their reports we would read something like:
(1) I did it by myself.
Is that a natural phrase for that situation? Or is phrase (2) better?
(2) I did it myself.
As for me, (1) “by myself” sounds as if person worked alone in full isolation. So, I presume (2) “myself” sounds more natural in this context.
Nevertheless, could some employees (not all, as it is now) use phrase “by myself” to emphasize on very little assistance (or no assistance) they needed to perform their task?
What is your opinion? What would be more natural in a great number of their reports?
Thank you in advance!
